—MISSIONAL MARKER—

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is:   Sacrificial and generous living and giving (Romans 12:1-8).

  • We help people discover, develop, and deploy their spiritual gifts.
  • We regularly, graciously, and unapologetically teach on the importance of financial stewardship in the spiritual growth of the Christian.
  • We have many examples of lifestyle choices being made on the basis of    stewardship and the priority God plays in the lives of our members.

— EVENTS —

Mark your calendars!  Come join us in celebrating the Reckers’ 50th anniversary on Sunday, August 27th.  We will have a potluck lunch followed by games, fellowship, cake and ice cream….and brownies, of course!

A Ladies’ Bible Study of 1 Corinthians is beginning in the fall.  Please call Ruth S if you would like to participate in this 12-week study.

Weekend to Remember Conference: It’s not too early to consider attending Family Life’s Weekend to Remember Marriage Conference at the Semiahmoo Resort on Nov. 10-12. For more information, call Marlin or Nellie at (360) 354-4952.

— PRAYERS —

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday life, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

Vicki, Roland & Esther, Kylie, Len & Terry

For over 60 years, Open Doors has worked in the world’s most oppressive countries, empowering Christians who are persecuted for their beliefs. Today’s prayer request is for PAKISTAN: Pray for Christians in Pakistan, especially those who are evangelizing and risk being charged with blasphemy by friends, family and neighbors.

— SERVE —

Sunday School teachers who would be able to take a turn beginning in September are urgently needed! Please sign up today on the sheet posted in the foyer. “Sunday school planning started early for me this year due to my trip to Nicaragua coming up in September, which also requires a lot of planning! The schedule for Sunday school is in August’s Heartbeat and also posted by the credenza in the foyer for you to see the available time slots. Let me know if you’d like your name to be in one or more of those slots or just go ahead and sign up! The Children and Worship schedule will be made once teachers are confirmed. You will be blessed by teaching our kids, and will be a blessing to them as well.”   Thank you,  Diane B

The Home mission / Office remodel project is underway!   Pastor Scott has finished moving his office from upstairs to downstairs.  Final touches on the pastor’s office are still being made.  The new downstairs administration office is still under construction.  It’s not too late to help or to donate funds towards the $5000.00 goal! More information about the plan and a sign up sheet are available in the foyer.
