The Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate today, is a way for the Christian to remember the sacrifice of Christ. If you have not yet believed in Christ as Savior, we invite you to watch and learn. We are glad you are here! If you have questions about Jesus, please see Pastor Scott after the worship service. The bread we use is allergen free and contains no wheat, dairy, nuts or soy. However, it may contain egg.

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

Bruce & Nancy

Mike & Diane

Ken A

Mike & Geralyn and children:

Josiah, Abigail, Bethany, Aleya, Emma, Nathanael, Alexander

From CRC’s Resonate Campus Ministry:  Campus ministry leaders across North America and around the world are gearing up for a second semester of ministry and discipleship. Pray that students’ new schedules will bring new opportunities to get involved and learn more about the Christian faith.

For Disability Concerns, Mental Health:  For many people in North America, the short days and long nights of winter parallel and even deepen an inner darkness of depression and other mental health challenges. Ask God to give grace, peace, and strength to people for whom this season is especially difficult.

For the Hope in Christ Church Council:  Our elders and deacons meet together once a month. Their next meeting is this coming Wednesday, January 10th.  Pray that these men and women will be led by the Lord in every decision and conversation, and that he would give them the time, energy, ability, and willingness to do the work that He has called them to do.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

New members:  Hope in Christ church warmly welcomes new members Bruce and Nancy C, Esther and Joshua L, and Marjie H.

Memorial Service: A memorial will be held on January 9th at 1:30 pm for Jodi Meir, a former member of our church. The memorial will be held at Marine Park in  Fairhaven.  Please contact Terry Vander Woude if you need directions or have any questions.

The Story Cards for Children:  Children are invited to take a story card home with them today. The cards correspond to the chapter of The Story that we are covering each week. This Sunday, the card has an illustration from the creation story on the front, and Genesis 1:1 printed on the back.  Look for a basket with the cards at the back of the sanctuary every Sunday.

Christie Miller’s Youth Theater will be practicing and performing here in July. There will be a comedy set in the 1950’s, “Site for Sore Ears” for children ages 12-17, and another titled “Rockin’ Around the House” for children ages 6-12.  For more information, pick up a gold flyer in the foyer. Christie hopes that many children from Hope in Christ will join in the fun!

Are you looking for a small group to join? Call David and Ida Richards at and ask them about the brand new group that starts January 16th at their home.  After the initial meeting in January, they plan to host the group every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month. They  look forward to seeing you!

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church.

This week’s Missional Marker is:

Culture of Godly Leadership (Hebrews 13:7)

  • Our leaders at all levels serve with character, competence, and conviction.
  • A spirit of collegiality pervades, with our people trusting our leaders and our leaders trusting our people.
  • We continually identify and train godly leaders for all dimensions of our ministry.
