MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church.

This Week’s Missional Marker: Sacrificial and Generous Living and Giving

(Romans 12:1-8)

  • We help people discover, develop, and deploy their spiritual gifts.
  • We regularly, graciously, and unapologetically teach on the importance of financial stewardship in the spiritual growth of the Christian.
  • We have many examples of lifestyle choices being made on the basis of stewardship and the priority God plays in the lives of our members.

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.  This week please pray for:

  • Mark & Rockelle: Mattea, Michal, Amariah, Eliana
  • Mitchell & Rochelle: Jonathan, Elisha, Peter
  • Keith S
  • Kyle S
  • Ruth S

For World Renew in Bangladesh: In August 2017, Rohingya refugees fled from Myanmar to Bangladesh after being targeted with extreme violence. Now many Rohingya are living in refugee camps without adequate means for survival. World Renew and collaborators are working to distribute food to some of the most vulnerable households in the camps. Please ask God to bring resources and healing to these people suffering in Bangladesh.

For World Renew in Syria: The long-standing civil war in Syria has left millions of families in need of humanitarian aid because of violence and displacement. Local churches in Syria are working with World Renew to provide food assistance to some of the most vulnerable people. Ask God to bring healing to the people of Syria.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thank You: Karen F would like to thank everyone for their calls, cards, and prayers as she has been undergoing cancer treatment. Karen appreciates your support and encouragement, and hopes to see you in church again soon.

Treasurer Needed: Our Treasurer, Denise, is contemplating a move to be closer to her Michigan family in the very near future. She has been serving Hope in Christ Church faithfully and well for 10 years and will be greatly missed. Denise has offered to begin training her replacement now, so that he or she will be fully-equipped and ready for the job. If you are interested in learning more about this volunteer position, she would be happy to answer your questions. Mission Trip to Omak: Two years ago, a group from Hope in Christ took a mission trip through World Renew. Would you like to join us if we go again? We are in the early planning stage for a one-week mission trip to Omak. Please contact Terry V if you might be interested in going, or if you would like more information.

The Story Cards for Children:  Children are invited to take a story card home with them today. The cards correspond to the chapter of The Story that we are covering each week. This Sunday, the card has an illustration of Samuel on the front, and 1 Samuel 3:19 on the back. Look for a basket with the cards at the back of the sanctuary every Sunday.

Women’s Weekend Getaway:  Ladies, there a few spots open! Come and join us from April 13-16 as we enjoy some time together in Moclips, on the Washington coast. Contact Terry V for more information.

Brother Yun Speaking Tour: The subject and co-author of the book “Heavenly Man,” will be speaking at Hillcrest Chapel 1400 Larrabee Ave., on March 15th at 7pm. Google Books describes Brother Yun’s story with these words: “Learn how God took a young half-starved boy from Henan Province and enabled him to stand strong on the front lines for Jesus, braving horrific opposition and impossible odds.” For more information, contact Renate at 360-201-5333.
