Titus 3;4-7 What is The Gospel?

Titus 3;4-7 What is The Gospel?

Sermon Outline

  1. False Gospels (Mk 13:22, 2Cor 11:13, 26, 1Tim 1:3, 2Pt 2:1, Gal 1:6-7, 2Cor 11:4)
  2. The True Gospel (1Cor 15:1-8, Titus 3:4-7)
    1. The Good News begins and ends with the Character of God (Titus 3:4, Acts 20:24, Rom 1:1)
    2. God took on flesh (Titus 3:4, Rom 1:9, 1Jn 4:2-3)
      1. Why is this important? (HC 35, 15-17)
        1. Promise to Adam and Eve (Gen 3:15)
        2. Needed to be David’s Descendant (2 Samuel 7:12–13)
        3. Needed to be like us in every way, except without sin (Heb 4:15, 7:26-27)
        4. Only human nature which has sinned, must pay for its sin, but a sinner could never pay for the sin of others (HC16), so God needed to come in sinless human flesh to redeem sinful humanity.
      2. Our actions had nothing to do with our salvation (Titus 3:3, 5, Rom 6:23, Is 64:6-7, HC 91)
      3. God’s mercy saves us (Titus 3:5)
      4. Results are 2 fold:
        1. Justified by his Grace (Titus 3:7)
        2. Heirs of eternal life (Titus 3:7)
      5. Salvation is applied by the Holy Spirit doing 2 things (Titus 3:5)
        1. Regenerating you
        2. Renewing you
      6. All God’s work– Father, Son and Holy Spirit
  3. Our Response is worship and insist this Gospel is preserved (Titus 3:8)
