PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.  This week please pray for:

  • Jerry & Faye
  • Christie H
  • Mark I
  • Dan G
  • Glenn (Jr.) J.
  • Jay & Avis

Pray with praise and thanksgiving:  Several who have been ill with colds and flu are on the mend; Recent test results show that Connie’s cancer is continuing to respond well to treatment.

From CRC’s Back to God Ministries in North America:  Rita regularly reads Today devotions as she serves her sentence in jail. She writes, “I sit in a cell with a story to tell. I’ve been living of the world, and most of my life is a blur. Today I finally see what Jesus has done for me. I trust and believe Christ Jesus has set me free!” Praise be to God! Pray for Rita, and others who are imprisoned, to have access to God’s word and to be able to find hope in Christ.

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church.

This week’s Missional Marker is:

Life Transforming Walk With Jesus (John 3:3, 30:  Phil. 1:6)

  • We teach our people how to be attentive to Christ in all circumstances.
  • Our people understand the radical nature of the message and mission of Jesus that continually deconstructs and reconstructs a person’s life.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to use a variety of spiritual growth resources, experiences, and settings.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Opportunity to Share Your Thoughts:  Pastors Ken Koeman and Jon Young will be doing their annual church visit to Hope in Christ Church Council on February 14 at 7 pm. If you have any encouragements or concerns about our church that you would like to give to them, please speak with an elder or deacon about scheduling a time for you to speak that evening.

The Story Cards for Children:  Children are invited to take a story card home with them today. The cards correspond to the chapter of The Story that we are covering each week. This Sunday, the card has an illustration of Moses at the divided sea on the front, and Numbers 12:3 on the back. Look for a basket with the cards at the back of the sanctuary every Sunday.

Year-end Giving Statements:  This past Sunday, the deacons distributed the year-end giving statements to those who were at church, and mailed to others. Please contact a deacon if we missed you, or if there was an error in your statement.

Parenting Today’s Teens:  Teen expert Mark Gregston of Heartlight Ministries will be featured at a conference on Feb. 2 and 3 at North County Christ the King in Lynden. Gregston is the author of several parenting books, hosts a radio show and podcast, and runs a therapeutic boarding school in East Texas. The Friday talk runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and is free. The Saturday session is titled “Tough Guys and Drama Queens” and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $30 for individuals and $50 for couples and includes lunch. If finances are tight, scholarships are available. To register or for more information about the event or the host Families Helping Families, visit www.fhfamilies.net or contact Rob Knapp at (360) 303-8461 or rbknapp5@gmail.com.
