PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.  This week please pray for:

  • Brian & Melissa K:  Abee, Brenna, John, Zachariah
  • Lisa O
  • Deloris
  • Lou & Ev K

From Back to God Ministries in China: Praise God that after reading an article on forgiveness posted to our Chinese ministry social media site, a reader shared, “Forgiveness is not easy for ordinary people like us. [This] story reminds me that we need to forgive in order to give glory to our God, who deserves it.” Pray that this reader and others like him continue to follow Christ’s example in their lives.

From CRCNA: Ash Wednesday is this week. During the Lenten season we reflect on Jesus’ suffering and death, and on what his death, resurrection, and ascension mean for us and his world. Pray that as we walk through Lent, we will draw nearer to the God who understands the suffering and weariness in the world and is redeeming it for his glory.

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church.

This week’s Missional Marker is:

TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES THROUGH ACTIVE COMPASSION, MERCY AND JUSTICE MINISTRIES     (Micah 6:8)

  • We are burdened for the hurting people in our community and beyond.
  • We have identifiable pathways for compassion, mercy and justice ministries to take place.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to see and address the hurts and the causes of hurt in our community and beyond.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Opportunity to Share Your Thoughts: Pastors Ken Koeman and Jon Young will be doing their annual church visit to Hope in Christ Church Council on February 14 at 7 pm. If you have any encouragements or concerns about our church that you would like to give to them, please speak with an elder or deacon about scheduling a time for you to speak that evening.

Friendship Class Craft Help Needed: Do you enjoy crafting /decorating paper but prefer to be home and work on crafts in your own time and space? Friendship is in need of 60 index card-sized papers to be fancied up around the edges or in a corner. They’ll be used to write “joy” notes to give others. This could be done with stamps, or hand drawn or ????. Choose whichever medium you enjoy! It can also be split between a number of people. Contact Tanya if interested in decorating some or all.

Building and Maintenance Team: There will be a team meeting this Tuesday at 7:00pm in the administration building.

Celebrate With Us: Doug and Po ling (Winnie) would like to invite the church family to a potluck on Sat., Feb. 24, at 5:30 p.m. at Hope in Christ Church. The occasion is to celebrate Doug’s early retirement from Amtrak. (He also celebrates a special birthday on Feb. 28.) There will be games and songs (relating to the train) to be sung. Families should bring a hot dish and salad. A homemade carrot cake will be provided by Winnie, as well as the beverages (fruit punch, water, coffee, and tea). Tableware will also be provided. Doug and Po ling (Winnie) will also be inviting some of their friends locally, and from Vancouver, B.C.; so be sure to welcome them. No gifts are requested. Come for a fun evening of fellowship and to wish Doug a good retirement from the railroad company, and a happy birthday!
