Welcome!

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Don N
  • Dan & Tanya: Amber, Chantel, Micah
  • Lisa O.
  • Deloris P.
  • Chris P.

From International Christian Response (ICR) Pray for Yemen: Yemen currently has one of the largest cholera epidemics ever seen. Due to lack of food, thousands are expected to starve and hospitals have already seen such horrific cases. Much of this is caused by Saudi’s constant onslaught of Yemen ports.

  • Pray for wisdom in speaking about Christ for Christians who are serving their people in Yemen during the onslaught.
  • Pray that God would soften the hearts of the Yemeni People during this time of devastation.
  • Pray that God would open doors for more medical and food supplies to be able to make it into the country!

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Heartfelt Worship (Psalm 138:1a; John 4:23)

  • We exalt and celebrate God for who he is, what he has done, what he is doing and what he will do.
  • Worship reflects careful preparation to help give voice to many dimensions of response to God such as adoration, praise, contrition, lament, and commitment.
  • People leave worship knowing something more about the heart of God and about their own hearts.

SERVANTS NEXT SUNDAY:  DECEMBER 16, 2018

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Women’s Severe Weather Shelter for the Lighthouse Mission: The shelter will be open every day during December, January and February. Our church has signed up to provide chili and rolls each Wed. evening. If you would like to provide rolls or a crockpot of chili, choose your Wednesday and sign up on the poster in the foyer. The food needs to be at Fountain Community Church by 6:30 p.m. If you don’t have a large crockpot or if you have any questions, contact Terry. You can pick up your crockpot on Thursday at Fountain Community Church or arrange with Terry to have it picked up and brought to our church.

Ladies’ Wednesday Bible Study: This group will meet on December 12, break for Christmas, then meet again on January 9th. The meeting on December 12 will be at Ruth’s home for Bible study and lunch.

Friendship Class Christmas Program: Friendship students invite you to their Christmas performance tomorrow night, December 10th at 7:00 p.m. You won’t want to miss it! Please add to Friendship’s collection for the food bank by bringing  non-perishable items when you come.

Giving Tree: Thank you to those who have already removed a gift tag from the giving tree in the foyer. There are still a few tags left, so please grab one of them this morning. All gifts need to be brought to church by Dec. 16 so they may be delivered to the Lighthouse Mission. We are also collecting toiletry items, hats and gloves for the mission.

Materials from The Story: Do you have any materials from The Story that you would like to give to someone else to use? All of the leftover and unused materials (books, CDs, cards, posters, etc.) that we do not need anymore will be gifted to another group who could use them. There will be a box in the foyer next Sunday for you to put the materials that you do not want to keep.

Potluck on Sunday, December 30th: This will be a soup and salad luncheon. If your last name begins with A – D, please bring a dessert.  Last names from E- Sk, please bring soup of any kind (we already have chili), and last names from Sp-Z,  please bring dinner rolls. You are welcome to trade with someone if you’d like.

Reports are Available: Thank you for your generosity in giving this past year! If you would like to see the year-end financial reports, please help yourself to a copy on the shelf in the foyer. If you have questions about anything on the reports, the deacons are happy to find the answers for you.

Secretary this Week: Terry will be taking care of things in the church office this week (Dec. 12-15) as Marjie will be away for vacation.
