Have you been heard? As a Christian Reformed Church denomination, we are on a journey of God’s work together. As with any journey, it is essential that as we travel we listen to each other and map our progress. With this in mind, our congregation is participating in the 2019 CRC denominational survey. It is crucial that as many people from our congregation as possible participate. Please visit crcna.org/survey and answer the survey questions by February 28. If you prefer to have a paper copy, they are available in the office.

Meeting to discuss boys group: Any men who are interested in discussing what a young men/boys group might look like, please meet at the Richards house on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7:00 p.m.

Bible Reading for this Week

Read through Chapter 8 of Believe this week as you ponder the following questions:

  1. What in this chapter spoke to me the most?  Was there something I saw in a new light?
  2. What in this chapter draws me to live more fully for Christ?
  3. Is there something that I would want to share from my heart with someone who may not know Jesus as their Savior?

If you do not have a copy of Believe yet, please help yourself to one from the table in the foyer.

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Virginia F
  • Karen F
  • Anne G
  • Darryl & Gloria
  • Dan G
  • Jerry & Faye

Pray for Christians in Iran: Iranian Christians request prayer for Simin Soheili and Yaser, Christian converts being held in Evin Prison, Tehran since 30 January 2019. On that date Simin and Yaser were summoned separately to the prison for questioning and arrested. Simin has been informed she will be charged with disturbing public order, propagating Christianity and connecting with foreign entities. She is facing a ten-year prison sentence.Yaser, who is not related to Simin, has a teenage son with severe physical disabilities.Iranian Christians request prayer that:
– Simin and Yaser and their families will know the Lord’s peace and encouragement at this distressing time
– God will strengthen Simin and Yaser and that they will stand firm in Christ and have wisdom in responding to this persecution
– The Iranian authorities responsible for their arrest and detention will be confronted with the truth of the Gospel and repent of their actions

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Heartfelt Worship (Psalm 138:1a; John 4:23)

  • We exalt and celebrate God for who He is, what He has done, what He is doing and what He will do.
  • Worship reflects careful preparation to help give voice to many dimensions of response to God such as adoration, praise, contrition, lament, and commitment.
  • People leave worship knowing something more about the heart of God and about their own hearts.
