ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dynamic Duo Departing Decorating Duty: After 27 years of being “The Dynamic Decorating Duo” at Hope in Christ, these two gals are ready to hand this job over to an upcoming team! We feel that new eyes will bring exciting changes and a fresh perspective to the church’s visual enhancement! There is an entire room upstairs filled with seasonal decorating items and there is a fund allocated in the budget for purchases towards decorating.

We know that there are creative members of our congregation who would like to try their hand at decorating our church home. We have decided that we will “Retire” after the 2019 Christmas season. Decorating our church for the past 27 years has been a true joy and real blessing to us and we have had such fun along the way!  And thank you to those who have often stepped up to help us in many ways, which has made it so much easier! We look forward to a new look at Hope in Christ!

Bible Reading for this Week

Read through Chapter 11 of Believe this week as you ponder the following questions:

  1. What in this chapter spoke to me the most?  Was there something I saw in a new  light?
  2. What in this chapter draws me to live more fully for Christ?
  3. Is there something that I would want to share from my heart with someone who may not know Jesus as their Savior?

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Lisa O
  • Deloris P
  • Chris P
  • Joe P
  • Bridger R
  • Steve & Gina N

HyderabadIndia (Morning Star News, March 7, 2019) – Churches in Tamil Nadu, India that had never experienced opposition now find Hindu extremists forcing them out of their places of worship, sources said. In one case Hindu extremists called praying women prostitutes and threatened to kill them; in another case near Chennai, the state capital, police went door-to-door with a radical Hindu telling people not to meet for worship; in a third case, the owner of the property where the church meets ordered them to vacate after opponents set a fire inside.

India is ranked 10th on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List of the countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. The country was 31st in 2013 but its position has been worse each year since Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014.

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Fruitful Organizational Structures (Exodus 18:13‐26, Acts 6:1-7)

  • We can articulate a compelling, Christ-honoring vision for our church.
  • We embrace evaluation as normal and natural and work through conflict constructively.
  • Our organizational structures are designed to be efficient at making decisions while at the same time building congregational ownership for those decisions.

  • Marvel: Matthew 6:20-21
