ANNOUNCEMENTS

Next Sunday, March 31, Sermon: Pastor Scott will be away next Sunday, and Mitch Senti will be preaching. We will not be discussing Chapter 13 of Believe until April 7, so you have an extra week to spend in that material. The adults will not have Sunday school on the 31st, but the children will.  Plan to stay for the potluck lunch following children’s Sunday school.

Church Potluck Next Sunday, March 31: Hospitality Team thought it might be fun to try different themes, and has selected a Mexican theme for this month. Each family is asked to bring a main dish (enchiladas, burritos, Mexican rice, taco salad, or your favorite!).  In addition, families with last names beginning with A through L are asked to bring a green salad or a Jello salad; and families with last names M-Z are asked to bring a dessert.  Our Hospitality Team will provide sour cream, salsa, guacamole, shredded cheese, olives and corn chips.

Movie Night, April 5th: You are invited to come to church on Friday, April 5th at 7:00 p.m. to watch the movie, The Pilgrim’s Progress: The Journey Begins.  The epic tale of a pilgrim and his burden, based on John Bunyan’s masterpiece, is a new, feature length, animated movie! In this exciting film event we will join Christian on his epic journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City as the ultimate enemy tries everything in his power to distract him from his journey. Everyone is welcome to come to movie night, and to bring friends too!  Popcorn and M&Ms will be provided. A freewill offering will be taken to help cover the cost of the film.

Craft and Coffee Fellowship Time for Women: You’re invited to a Craft and Coffee fellowship time for ladies at the Home of the Abees, on the mornings of April 27 and April 30.  For more information and a sign-up sheet, please look in the foyer by the bulletins.

Service for Karen and Diane’s sister, Shirley: There will be a memorial service at Faith Community Fellowship (1427 Monte Vista Dr., Mount  Vernon) on Saturday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m.

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This Week’s Marker: Life Transforming Walk With Jesus   (John 3:3, 30; Phil. 1:6)

  • We teach our people how to be attentive to Christ in all circumstances.
  • Our people understand the radical nature of the message and mission of Jesus that continually deconstructs and reconstructs a person’s life.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to use a variety of spiritual growth resources, experiences, and settings.

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.  This week please pray for:

  • Pastor Scott & Jen: Ellie, Morgan, Bekah, Zeke, Caleb, Grace, Faith, Elisha
  •  Mark & Rockelle R:  Mattea, Michal, Amariah, Eliana
  • Joanne S
  • Vicki S

Prayer Request from CRC for World Renew: In August 2017, thousands of Rohingya people fled from extreme violence in Myanmar to Bangladesh. World Renew’s response continues after providing food assistance to over 290,000 people, helping 2,700 families prepare for monsoon season, building 20 community kitchens, and providing 500 families with household stoves. Please ask God to bring resources and healing to these refugees.

Pray for the Persecuted Church: Hyderbad, India (March 21, 2019. Morning Star News) – Three pastors in western India have been criminally charged in retaliation for refuting a false account of a Hindu extremist attack on six Christians that left a teenage girl unconscious, sources said.  India is ranked 10th on Christian support organization Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List of the countries where it is most difficult to be a Christian. The country was 31st in 2013, but its position has been worse each year since Narendra Modi of the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in 2014.
