BIBLE READING FOR THIS WEEK

Read through CHAPTER 20 of Believe this week as you ponder the following questions:

  1. What in this chapter spoke to me the most? Was there something I saw in a new light?
  2. What in this chapter draws me to live more fully for Christ?
  3. Is there something that I would want to share from my heart with someone who may not know  Jesus as their Savior?

PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Wilma K
  • Don K
  • Michael & Connie, Heidi K
  • Lou & Ev K
  •  Brian & Melissa K: Abee, Brenna, John, Zachariah
  • Doug & Winnie K

Pray for Christians in Iran:  Iranian Christians request prayer for Saheb Fadaei and Fatimeh Bakhteri, whose prison sentences of 18 and 12 months respectively for “spreading propaganda against the regime” have been upheld by the appeal court.

Saheb is already serving another sentence in Evin Prison, Tehran. Saheb, along with pastor Yousef Nadarkhani, Mohammadreza Omidi and Yaser Mosibzadeh, were each given 10-year prison sentences for propagating house churches and promoting “Zionist Christianity” after a hearing on 14 June 2017 at the 26th Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.

Iranian Christians request prayer that:

  • The Lord will encourage and strengthen Saheb and Fatimeh, despite the injustices they face
  • The Lord will also encourage and strengthen Saheb’s family and Fatimeh’s husband
  • The Lord will bless and use Saheb, Yousef, Mohammadreza and Yaser while they are held in Evin Prison
  • The Iranian regime will stop targeting Christian converts and other minorities on account of their religious beliefs and related peaceful activities

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Centrality of the Word of God (2Timothy 3:16)

  • We believe that the Bible is the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct.
  • Our preaching and teaching in all settings reflects careful preparation, relevance, and creativity.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to study and apply Biblical truth in ways that lead to a scripturally integrated life.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thank you to our Church Family for the phone calls, cards, and especially the prayers offered for our family members during the tragic loss of my nephew, Curt Miller. A sign will be installed at the crash site reminding everyone to pay attention and to be alert while driving. When you see the sign as you drive by (Southbound I-5 near the Conway exit) take a moment to ask God for safety and traveling mercies for your vehicle and those around you as you travel.  Thank you, Lou & Ev
