June 2, 2019

Welcome!

The Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate today, is a way for the Christian to remember the sacrifice of Christ. If you have not yet believed in Christ as Savior, we invite you to watch and learn.  We are glad you are here! If you have questions about Jesus, please see Pastor Scott after the worship service.

The bread we use is allergen free and contains no wheat, dairy, nuts or soy. It may contain egg.

Pray for Christians in Nigeria:  JOS, Nigeria, May 29, 2019 (Morning Star News) – Area Christian Peter Sarki informed Morning Star News by text message that local Muslims east of Jos, Plateau state, killed seven Christians on Sunday atfer unidentified Muslims killed Moses Victor, a member of the Evangelical Church Winning All (EWCA), in the Rikkos area of Jos on May 20. Sarki said more than 12 houses were burned, and that 12 additional Christians were wounded in the attacks. He said the violence took place in the areas in the Jos areas of Rikkos, Angwan Rukuba, Tina Junction, Cele Bridge, Dutse Uku, and Yan Trailer.

Christians make up 51.3 percent of Nigeria’s population, while Muslims living primarily in the north and middle belt account for 45 percent.

Nigeria ranked 12th on Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution.

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is:  Life Transforming Walk With Jesus (John 3:3, 30; Phil. 1:6)

  • We teach our people how to be attentive to Christ in all circumstances.
  • Our people understand the radical nature of the message and mission of Jesus that continually deconstructs and reconstructs a person’s life.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to use a variety of spiritual growth resources, experiences, and settings.

Congregational Meeting Following Worship Next Sunday: Vitality Team is leading a round- table discussion on June 9 as they look for ways we as a church can be our best in fulfilling our vision statement of Proclaiming our Hope in Christ. In preparation, please consider these questions:

  1. Is it hard for you personally to talk about Jesus and your faith? Why or Why not?  Also, think about whether you can easily share your faith with your Christian friends as well as those outside the church.
  1. If it is not hard for you – why isn’t it hard?  How did you overcome any hesitancy you felt? Did you have to deal with rejection?  How did that go?
  1. Where (what area) do you see the most need in our community that we as individuals and a church should be sharing our faith?
  1. What tools would help you overcome your reluctance to share about Jesus and your relationship with Him?
