PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Ron & Christiane R
  • Mark & Rockelle R: Mattea, Michal, Amariah, Eliana
  • Doug & Jan S
  • Joanne S
  • Vicki S
  • Keith S

We give thanks for these answered prayers from the Light of the World Prayer Center-

Education: The City of Bellingham approved a Conditional Use Permit for the expansion and improvements of Bellingham Christian School which will help facilitate the reunification of Evergreen Christian School and Bellingham Christian School by allowing them to improve parking, add portables, and more. (Prayer Request from March/April 2019)

Family: The Mayor sent her recommendation for the HUD block grant to the council through which Skookum was given finances allowing them to build a Childcare Center in Bellingham which will provide space for 60 children. The Council will vote to make this official, but it is rare for them to deviate from the Mayor’s recommendation. (Prayer Request from March/April 2019)

International Missions: Indigenous missionary teams in South & Southeast Asia  reported 1,084 first-time salvations and 435 baptisms in the 1st quarter  of 2019. In addition, they distributed nearly 150,000 pieces of  Scripture in outreach, predominantly to unreached peoples. We thank you for praying and urge continued prayer; the harvest is  indeed plentiful! (Prayer Request from January/February 2019)

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is:

Global Perspective and Engagement (Acts 1:8)

  • We raise the sights of our members beyond our congregation and community by developing a Biblical worldview and often pray for and reference global matters.
  • We have identifiable pathways to support the cause of Christ globally.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to participate in the global dimensions of our ministry.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Potluck Next Sunday: Hospitality Team hopes that everyone will be able to stay for food and fellowship on Sunday, June 30th. They ask that families with last names from A-L bring a hot dish and a dessert, and families with last names from M-Z bring a salad and a hot dish.

Gideons Speaker: The Gideons International is a body of believers dedicated to making the Word of God available to everyone and, together with the local church, reaching souls for Christ. Walt Williamson will be speaking for a few minutes during the worship service next Sunday (June 30), to tell us more about the work of the Gideons. A special offering will be taken for Gideons International next Sunday, as well as the usual offering for the Benevolence Fund.

Show You Care – Donate New Underwear! Those coming to  Shower Connect are greatly in need of new underwear.  We are collecting for both men and women; all sizes are needed. Donation of leggings and sports bras for the women would also be appreciated. A basket is in the foyer for your donations. If you would like to volunteer to help on Shower Connect Thursdays, a sign-up sheet is in the foyer.

You can help with set-up on July 18 or help with the event itself on July 19 at Bellingham High School.
