I. How do we know God?
a. Creation (Rom 1:19-20, Ps 8:3-4)
b. Self-revelation (Heb 1:1-2, Gen 1-3)
i. God took the initiative to approach humanity!
ii. The Son is the supreme revelation of God! (John 5:37-39, Heb 1:3, Jn 14:9-11)
c. The Bible reveals God to us (John 20:31)
II. How do we know God’s will for our life
a. It would be easy to simply tell you God’s will for you (1Th 5:16-18, et al.)
b. The Bible is wisdom imparting (2Tim 3:15)
i. Is the NT included in the Scriptures Paul is talking about? (1Tim 5:18, Dt 25:4, Lk 10:7, 2Pt 3:16)
c. How does it do that? (2Tim 3:16-17)
i. God breathed
1. Implications of this are many:
a. When we obey the Word we are obeying God and are blessed (Ex 19:5, Dt 11;27, Jer 7:23)
b. When we ignore the Word we are ignoring God (Ex 5:2, Jer 7:24)
c. When we disobey the Word we are disobeying God and under a curse (Dt 8:20, 11:28, Jn 3:36)
ii. Teaches & Reproves (Heb 4:12)
iii. Corrects & Trains in Righteousness
iv. Equips us for good works
III. Conclusion (2Tim 2:15)
