Matthew 1-2, Luke 1-2, John 1
- Kings don’t come from ordinary stock
- But that isn’t what we find as we read through Matthew’s opening chapter.
- Jesus is the “son of David, the son of Abraham” and a descendant of:
- Tamar, A Canaanite (Mt 1:3, Gen 38)
- Rahab, the Prostitute (Mt 1:5, Josh 2:1)
- Wife of Uriah, an adulteress (Mt 1:6, Ex 33:2)
- Manasseh, a pagan God hater (Mt 1:10, 2Chr 33:2-9)
- Mary and Joseph (Mt 1:19)
- But that isn’t what we find as we read through Matthew’s opening chapter.
- The 7 extraordinary Angelic Appearances
- Angel #1 (Lk 1:8-24)
- Angel #2 (Lk 1:26-38)
- Angel #3 (Mt 1:18-23, Is 7:14)
- Angel #4&5 (Lk 2:8-21, Mt 11:28)
- Angel #6 (Mt 2:13-18)
- Angel #7 (Mt 2:19-23)
- And so by the time it is done, we have met 7 groupings of angel announcing the good news,
- God is back on the scene in power.
- Grace and truth and here (Jn 1:16-17)
- Your Kings is extraordinary (Rom 5:8, 1Pet 3:18, Lk 2:12)
