  1. Kings don’t come from ordinary stock
    1. But that isn’t what we find as we read through Matthew’s opening chapter.
      1. Jesus is the “son of David, the son of Abraham” and a descendant of:
      2. Tamar, A Canaanite (Mt 1:3, Gen 38)
      3. Rahab, the Prostitute (Mt 1:5, Josh 2:1)
      4. Wife of Uriah, an adulteress (Mt 1:6, Ex 33:2)
      5. Manasseh, a pagan God hater (Mt 1:10, 2Chr 33:2-9)
      6. Mary and Joseph (Mt 1:19)
  2. The 7 extraordinary Angelic Appearances
    1. Angel #1 (Lk 1:8-24)
    2. Angel #2 (Lk 1:26-38)
    3. Angel #3 (Mt 1:18-23, Is 7:14)
    4. Angel #4&5 (Lk 2:8-21, Mt 11:28)
    5. Angel #6 (Mt 2:13-18)
    6. Angel #7 (Mt 2:19-23)
  3. And so by the time it is done, we have met 7 groupings of angel announcing the good news,
    1. God is back on the scene in power.
    2. Grace and truth and here (Jn 1:16-17)
    3. Your Kings is extraordinary (Rom 5:8, 1Pet 3:18, Lk 2:12)
