  2. To God it’s all about keeping his Word (Upper Story)
    1. Ancient Prophecy of Jericho (1Ki 16:34, Josh 6:26)
    2. Jeroboam (Israel)
      1. An amazing conditional promise (1Ki 11:37-38)
      2. Failure to trust God (1Kings 12:28, 31)
      3. God’s Response: (1Ki 14:7ff)
        1. Son dies (1Ki 14:17)
        2. No descendants left (1Ki 15:29)
        3. House to be burned (1Ki 16:18)
    3. For the sake of David (Judah) (1Ki 11:13, 2Chr 21:7, 2Ki 20:6)
      1. The promising to David (2Sam 7:12-16) was so important for 2 reasons:
        1. The plan for Redemption was to come through David
        2. The Character of God was on the Line
    4. Relationships are built upon faithfully keeping one’s word.
