  3. Tithing in the OT
    1. What is a tithe? (Gen 14:20)
    2. What did they tithe on? (Lev 27:30-33)
    3. Where did they give it? (Num 18:21)
    4. How much? And To whom?
      1. A Tithe for the Feasts (Dt 14:22-27)
      2. A Tithe for the Poor (Dt 14:28-29)
  4. Giving in the NT
    1. NT never explicitly commands the giving of a tithe
    2. Tithe is only used 7x in NT (Mt 23:23, Lk 11:42, 18:12, Heb 7:2-9)
    3. In Christ, the Law has been fulfilled (Mt 5:17) for it was only a shadow of the things to come (Col 2:17, Heb 10:1)
    4. 2Corinthians 8:1-4
      1. First Lesson: Giving in the NT is a matter of Joy.
      2. Second Lesson: Giving in the NT is a matter of generously giving yourself and all that is under your stewardship to help others.
      3. Third Lesson: Giving in the NT should be something we are driven to participate in.
      4. Fourth Lesson: Giving in the NT is a matter of seeking equity in the Body of Christ (Prov 2:9, 2Cor 8:11-15).
      5. Fifth Lesson: Giving in the NT is a personal freedom meant as an expression of our relationship with God. (2Cor 9:6-7, 11)
      6. Sixth Lesson: Generous Giving is a way that God expects us to Live.
