- We all have enemies, but what are we to do when we identify who they are?
- That depends on whether they are our enemies or God’s.
- I am to forgive My Enemies (Eph 4:31-32)
- God will deal with His Enemies
- Psalm 68 gives us one way of dealing with our enemies when they are also God’s enemies.
- The Word is full of advice in dealing with our enemies.
- Jesus tells us to Love and pray for our enemies (Mt 5:43-44)
- He tells us to turn the other cheek (Mt 5:39)
- We are told to bless those who curse us (Lk 6:27-28)
- Even to be a servant of those who are using us (Mt 5:40-41)
- Not to rejoice or be glad when our enemy falls (Prov 24:17)
- How can we do this, you might be asking? (1Jn 4:19, 1Pt 2:23)
- When our enemy is God’s enemy, we should Cry out to God for judgment!
- That depends on whether they are our enemies or God’s.
- Request for God to rise up in Judgment (Ps 68:1)
- Enemies = those who hate God
- How do we know who hates God?
- “You will recognize them by their fruits.” (Mt 7:20)
- If we Love God by obeying his commands (Jn 14:15)
- Then we Hate God by ignoring his commandments (Ps 68:21, 30; 1Jn 2:9, 11)
- 2 Results of Judgment
- Enemy is dispersed (Ps 68:1-2)
- Righteous will worship (Ps 68:3-4)
- Praise His Name
- Awed by his power (rides upon the clouds)
- Cares for Fatherless (Ps 68:5)
- Defends widow (Ps 68:5)
- Cares for lonely (Ps 68:6)
- Leads the prisoner (Ps 68:6, 18, Eph 4:8-12)
- God leads them into Promised Land (Ps 68:7-10)
- Scatters foreign enemies (Ps 68:12-14)
- Bears our burdens (Ps 68:19)
- Saves from death (Ps 68:20)
- How do we know who hates God?
- Enemies = those who hate God
- When facing enemies, we must ‘entrust ourselves to him who judges justly.’ (1Pt 2:23)
