  1. Sacrifice is a response to the Gospel (Rom 12:1)
    1. Earnest appeal with affirmative response expected
    2. Sacrifice ought to be willing
      1. Holiness is possible
      2. Renouncing ourselves is implied
    3. Spiritual worship – only response that make any sense
  2. The opposite of sacrifice is worldliness (Rom 12:2)
    1. Don’t be pressed into worldly service
    2. Don’t Behave like the world (Mt 20:25, Lk 3:14, Lk 3:11)
  3. Sacrifice happens by renewal of the mind which affects action (Rom 12:2)
    1. Transformation – Becoming something New
    2. New way of thinking, perceiving (Ps 46:10, 119)
  4. Sacrifice forms people who
    1. Humble not egoholic think with sober judgment (Rom 12:3)
    2. Recognize the unity of the body, interconnectedness (Rom 12:4)
    3. Discern God’s will (Rom 12:2)
    4. Recognize the diversity of the body (Rom 12:4, 6-8)
