Pray for Pastor and Mrs. Appalabattula in India: HYDERABAD, India, February 13, 2020 (Morning Star News) Attacks and harassment of a house church in southern India have decimated the 40-member congregation and left the pastor injured and demoralized. On Jan. 27 Pastor Appalabattula pleaded with about a dozen local residents to stop building a wall meant to block people from attending worship services at his home. The group attacked him, breaking his hand…Pastor Appalabattula said they are going through a very difficult time. “I am ready to die for Christ. But the ministry we had started here has come to a sudden halt,” he said. “Not even four members are gathering for Sunday worship. The believers have been very scared, and nobody dares to come and see us.” …“They [police officers] told me that, ‘Your God has to protect you – when your God is not protecting you from your attackers, what can we do by staying here?’” Pastor Appalabattula said, “I told them that it was my God who had been protecting me, if not I would not have been alive in front of you.” …The attacks have left the Appalabattulas feeling lonely and deserted. Youths and Christians from neighboring villages who used to come to their home daily for worship and hours of fellowship are too fearful to come now, Karuna Appalabattula said, tearfully.
MISSIONAL MARKER
The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Culture of Godly Leadership (Hebrews 13:7)
- Our leaders at all levels serve with character, competence, and conviction.
- A spirit of collegiality pervades, with our people trusting our leaders and our leaders trusting our people.
- We continually identify and train godly leaders for all dimensions of our ministry.
