Betrayal (John 13:18, 21

          1. How would you feel?
          2. Jesus was troubled in spirit we are told. (Mt 2:3)
            1. Betray – it’s meaning
              1. Term literally means “to hand over”
              2. Involves rejection of the person and their message
          3. The disciples are confused/perplexed (Jn 13:22-24)
            1. The beloved disciple
            2. The Seating Plan (Mt 20:16, Lk 13:30, Acts 24:10, Lk 1:62, 5:7)
          4. Satan entered into him (Jn 13:2, 27, 1Jn 4:4)

Denial f(Jn 13:36-38)

        1. Consider that contrasts
          1. Betray-Deny
          2. Devotion (love) – pride (self-preservation)
          3. And yet Jesus loves and can save both types if they come to him
        2. So why is betrayal and denial bookending what happens in the middle?
