- For what would you shout out in joyful exclamation?
- Notice how the Psalmist begins and ends Ps 146
- What is praise? (Ps 146:2, Col 3:16)
- Praise is the joyful, loud, rejoicing in God for who He is and what he does.
- Calvin commenting on Psalm 145 says, “…We only praise God aright when we are filled and overwhelmed with an ecstatic admiration of the immensity of his power.”
- The Psalmist begins and ends with imperatives – commands to worship God.

Why should I rejoice in God?

- Humanity doesn’t last (Ps 146:3-4, Jam 4:13-14)
- What is Trust? (Ps 22:4-5, Ex 35:5)
- Psalmist starts by warning of trusting in princes, but what else do we trust in? (Ex 35:5)
- fortifications (Dt 28:52),

- oppression and perverseness (Is 30:12),
- military means (Isa 31:1),
- knowledge (Is 47:10),

- God is your Help (Ps 146:5, Gen 2:18, Is 26:4)
- God is the Creator of everything (Ps 146:6)
- God is faithful (Ps 146:6)
- God is Just (Ps 146:7, 2Cor 5:10)
- God is compassionate (Ps 146:7, Mt 14:13-21, 15:32-39)
- God is redeemer (Ps 146:7, Lev 25:8ff, Acts 12:5-11, 16:25-34)
- God is healer (Ps 146:8, Mt 9:27-31, 12:22-23, 20:29-34, Mk 8:22-26, Lk 18:35-43, Jn 9:1-41, 2Cor 3:16)
