Bulletin – Week of June 5, 2016

Welcome to worship! Our desire is to be a warm and friendly congregation. Let’s reach out to one another in Christian love as we worship and have fellowship with one another.

 Message: The Burnt Offering

 Scripture: Leviticus 1

Offering: General Fund

Prayer Requests:

This week we are asked to pray for Jessie Figenbaum, Jennie Figenbaum, Karen Funk, Anne Geleynse, Carolyn Goble, Darryl and Gloria Groothuis. Suggestions for prayers would be for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday life, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.

We lift up Paulino and Georgi as Paulino had colon cancer surgery on Friday. We pray for a full and speedy recovery for him.

Announcements:

The Lord’s Supper, which we celebrate today, is a way for the Christian to remember the sacrifice of Christ. If you have not yet believed in Christ as Savior, we invite you to watch and learn. We are glad you are here! If you have questions about Jesus, please see Pastor Scott after the worship service. The bread we use is allergen free and contains no wheat, dairy, nuts or soy. However, it may contain egg.

Next Sunday we will have a guest pastor as Pastor Scott will be joining the group on our mission trip to Okanagan County.

Going to Michigan? Len Vander Woude’s niece is getting married in Michigan and her parents are trying to transport her belongings from Lynden to Michigan.

The council is considering hosting a political event this fall where we would invite the judicial candidates to come and speak about their views of law, being a judge, etc. If you are interested in helping to facilitate this possible ministry to our church and our county, please contact David Richards or the church office.

The Deacons are having a Linen Drive for Love, INC. They have requested clean, gently used/new sheets, especially queen size, as they have had a large donation of queen size beds. The Deacons have provided a box in the foyer for your donations. Contact a deacon if you forgot your donation and still want to give some sheets to this cause.

The GEMS girls club is off to camp June 10-12. Nine girls and two councilors from Hope in Christ will be spending the weekend with GEMS from around Washington. Please pray for safe travels, fun times and opportunities to draw closer to their Savior.

Servants Next Sunday, June 12: Greeters: Karen Smith and Chris Pike; Nursery: NONE; Snacks: Arlene Veenstra and Barb Zylstra; Ushers: Don Knutson and Helen Bowman; Prayer Room: Christine Speyer.

The decision was made to have May 29th be the last Sunday that we will have members serving in the nursery during the service. This may change later, based on a need to again offer the nursery. Your thoughts and suggestions on this issue are welcome by the council.

The June issue of the Heartbeat is available this morning and also on the church’s web site.

COOKIES! COOKIES! COOKIES! How can you help the team going on the mission trip to the Okanagan fire ravaged area? The team would love to have donations of homemade cookies that can be placed in the lunches of the team when they are out working. If you would like to bring cookies for the team, please have them to the church office on Friday, June 10th or to Linda McConnaughey or David Richards on Sunday morning.

Fencing tools needed! The mission team will be helping to repair fences and they are in need of small tools specifically for fencing. If you have some to LOAN the team, please bring them to the church prior to June 11th. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON YOUR TOOLS SO WE CAN GET THEM BACK TO YOU. If you don’t want them back, we will leave the tools for the next mission team to use there.

The Konings are having a garage sale July 22-23 and your good used items are wanted—also your help at the garage sale. Items may be brought to the church on Thursday, July 21. They will need help setting up the sale on Thursday and then doing clean up on Saturday.

Cascade Family Bible Camp will run from July 7 through 11 at Warm Beach Camp near Stanwood. Speakers include Pastor Jon Brown, Grant Vanderhoak and Geoff Van Dragt. This is a great way to invest in your family and faith. Registration forms are available in the foyer or online at www.cascadefamilybiblecamp.org. First-time registrants receive 50 percent off registration.

The Decision America Tour 2016 with Franklin Graham will stop in Olympia on June 29 at noon. A bus will leave from Faith Reformed that morning. If you are interested in attending, call Jane at Faith (354-3664) Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about the tour and its challenge for Christians to live out their faith at home, in public and at the ballot box, visit decisionamericatour.com.
