A Godly Marriage

Ephesians 5;22-33

1. A godly marriage pictures our relationship with Christ
   1. Christ Leads the Church (Eph 5:23)
   2. Christ loves the church (Eph 5:25)
      1. Love is (1Cor 13:4-8)
      2. Loves gives of oneself without limit
      3. Love gives to purify and cleanse
   3. Christ Feeds and cares for the Church (Eph 5:29)
   4. Christ unites himself to the Church (Eph 5:31-32, Heb 13:5, Rom 6:5, 8)
2. Marriage is to picture this
   1. Leading – Authority and Submission (Eph 5:22-23)
      1. Practically, how can a wife submit to her husband:
      2. Husbands lead them into Christ: your call is much higher, greater responsibility.
   2. Loving
      1. Practically, how can a Husband Love his wife
      2. Gave self up, purifying and cleansing
      3. Husbands what is your wife’s spiritual struggle, what costs can you bear to allow her to find freedom?
   3. Feeding and Caring
      1. Husbands, you must not only give of yourself, you must feed and care for your wife.
      2. Physically
      3. Spiritually
      4. Emotionally
      5. Mentally
   4. Unity with her
