2. God desires to live in the midst of his People
   1. Rules of Enjoyable Living (Ex 20:1-21)
      1. Promise to Abraham – Land, people, blessing (Gen 12:1-3)
      2. God has rescued his people from Egypt (Ex 19:1)
      3. 10 commandments are foundational rules for living enjoyably with God and one another
      4. These rules weren’t arbitrary; they are rooted in God’s very character.
   2. A Place for God to dwell (Ex 29-31, 35-40)
   3. A Way to Deal with Sin (Exo 24:6-8, Lev)
   4. Promise that living this way bring special blessing of relationship (Ex 19:5-6)
3. Our response to God’s desire
   1. Agree to do everything (Ex 24:3)
   2. Build idols to worship (Ex 32)
   3. So what is the hope?
4. The Need for a New Covenant and a New Life
   1. God writes his laws on our hearts (Jer 31:31-34, Heb 8:10, 10:16)
   2. God dwells in our person (1Cor 3:16, 2Tim 1:14)
   3. God atones for our sin and cleanses our hearts (Jn 1:29, Heb 9:22)
