Because Christ is powerfully at work in his people, Maturity is our destiny. (Col 1:28, Eph 4:12-13)
We will mature if God permits (Heb 6:3)

The impossibility of not maturing (Heb 6:4-6)

- It is impossible for a Christian to fall away.
- The word impossible means exactly that – incapable of being done
- Used in other places to say Man can’t save himself (Mt 19:26)
- The Law can save a person (Rom 8:3)
- Animal sacrifices can remove sin (Heb 10:4)
- In the same way, it is impossible for a believer who apostasizes to be restored, and that simply means it is impossible for a believer to apostasize.
- Everythign which follows is a beautiful description of someone who has been touched by the Holy Spirit and renewed internally
- Been enlighted (Heb 10:32, Eph 1:18, Jn 8:12, 9:5)
- Tasted of the heavenly gift
- The heavenly gift often refers to the Holy Spirit (Jn 4:10, Act 2:38)
- The heavenly gift is the gift of life (Rom 6:23)
- The gift of grace (Rom 5:15)
- The gift of righteousness (Rom 5:17)
- Participants with the Holy Spirit
- Experienced the goodness of the promises of God (Josh 23:14)
- Experineced the powers of the age to come
- If this kind of believer falls away, then they are doomed, they can’t be restored
- Well watered land (Heb 6:7)
- Dry Barren Desert (Heb 6:8)
