      1. Grief defined. Grief is personal.
      2. Examples of grief (Isa 54:5-7, Gen 6:6, Jn 21:17)
      3. Command: DO NOT GRIEVE!
  2. What grieves the Holy Spirit?
    1. Rebellion to the instruction of God (Isa 63:10, 1Sam 15:11)
    2. Anything that isn’t holy (Gal 5:22-24)
    3. Specifics (Ephesians 4:31, Luke 7:47)
  3. What are the effects of grieving the HS?
    1. Ministry of comfort and assurance turns into a ministry of conviction (Jn 16:8)
    2. Lack of sensitivity to the Word of God (Acts 24:26)
  4. Instead BE FiLLED with the Holy Spirit
    1. Cultivate a life of holiness. Sanctification
      1. Read the word and do it – (James 1:22, 2:17)
      2. Keep a short record of wrongs (1Cor 13:5)
      3. Pray for enemies, persecutors. (Mt 5:44) Bless and don’t curse them (Rom 12:14)
      4. Flee immorality (1Cor 6:18)
      5. Pray for God’s strength (Phil 2:12b-13, Lk 11:13)
      6. Worship and give thanks (Eph 5:18-20)
