Who chose the 4 gospels?

Often we hear things like, “The church just chose the gospels it wanted, and left out competing ideas that didn’t mesh with what she wanted to tell people.”  The Da Vinci code was notorious for this type of undermining of the Biblical canon.  But some may wonder, why these 4 – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – as opposed to the Gospel of Thomas and things like that.  Dr. Hill answers that for us in this 3 minute clip from RTS.
