EPIC Devotion #8

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

1 Corinthians 12:4-7

Paul in several passages points to the principle underscored in this passage. All believers have a variety of gifts, given by the Holy Spirit, for the good of the whole body. None of the gifts are more important or more valuable. Each gift contributes to the whole body being all that God wants it to be.

In the past three days, we have looked at the different leadership styles of spirituality, chemistry, and strategy. These have been compared by saying they bring us to a oneness with God: spirituality, to a oneness with each other: chemistry, and to a oneness with God’s mission: strategy.

Which style most describes you? Think about people you look up to as leaders in the church, what style do they exemplify? What does your style tell you about how you work in a group? What other style do you need around you to keep a balance in your perspective?
