Pray for World Renew: World Renew is sending volunteers in Christ’s name to help with clean-up and home repairs in Texas and Florida. Disaster Response Services personnel are on their way to Puerto Rico, securing volunteer opportunities for churches and offering services in recovering communities. Through unmet needs assessments, building estimating, and reconstruction, World Renew is committed to supporting local communities in their recovery efforts. This ministry is made possible by more than 2,300 volunteers. World Renew is not often the very first organization on the scene, but are very often the last to leave. You can join World Renew in responding to September’s hurricanes as the work is expected to continue for several years. Learn more at worldrenew.net/hurricanes.
Pray for and volunteer with Love INC: Love INC is looking for phone call volunteers for its Calling Center. If you are available to serve between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. any days Mondays through Thursdays, call the office at (360) 671-6201.

EVENTS

Congregational Meeting Today: Please plan to stay after the worship service for the 2017 Congregational Meeting at 11:00. Members will be asked to vote on several issues. Thank you for your input and support!

Come and help Christine and Ida! They need you to help them on Saturday, November 25th at 1pm as they decorate the church for Christmas. Don’t worry if you have no decorating skills, they have that covered! If you can pick things up & put things down, and follow directions, then you are a qualified and wanted helper.

New Members Class: If you are interested in learning about what it means to be a member of Hope In Christ Church, please come on Sunday, December 17th at 3:30 to meet with Pastor Scott. Anyone who would like to join, or is even just thinking about it, is welcome to come to listen and ask questions. Please call the church office so we can prepare materials for you: 360-733-6177.

January Series Lectures in Lynden: The award-winning January Series of Calvin College is at Third CRC from Jan. 3 to 23. The free lectures are open to the public and are video streamed live in the basement gathering room (please use the west entrance) weekdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. PST. Topics include millennials, inequality and racism, the death penalty, the environment, cybersecurity, dementia, and partnerships between churches and cities. For a schedule of speakers and topics, visit calvin.edu/january-series/speakers. Contact Larry and Harleen Stegink at adahe2002@gmail.com or the church at 354-1448 for details.

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is:
Life Transforming Walk With Jesus (John 3:3, 30; Phil. 1:6)
– We teach our people how to be attentive to Christ in all circumstances.
– Our people understand the radical nature of the message and mission of Jesus that continually deconstructs and reconstructs a person’s life.
– Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to use a variety of spiritual growth resources, experiences and settings.
