We give thanks to Michael Boer and Lou Kooistra for their service as Elders and to Dan Obbink and Avis Kaemingk for their service as Deacons.
Father/Son Hike: Fathers of sons, if you and yours would like to join Brian and Scott E on a fathers-and-sons, overnight, two-day, backpacking hike in Aug/Sep, please let Scott know your availability. Honorary uncles are welcome too. The dates we’re considering are all Fridays & Saturdays: Aug 17 & 18, Aug 31 & Sep 1 (Labor Day weekend), and Sep 14 & 15.
Garage Sale for Adoption Fund: Terri, a friend of the Roberts, is adopting two girls. A garage sale will be held at church on May 18 & 19 from 8am-2pm with the proceeds going towards the adoption. Donations of new or gently used items are being accepted and will be stored in the portable building. If you have something that needs to be picked up, please call Jen.
The Story Cards for Children: Children are invited to take a story card home with them today. The cards correspond to the chapter of The Story that we are covering each week. This Sunday, the card has an illustration of Daniel and lions on the front, and Daniel 2:28 on the back. Look for a basket with the cards at the back of the sanctuary every Sunday.
Habitat to Open Store Expansion: Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County is having the grand opening of the Habitat Store expansion on Saturday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to great sales to support the Habitat cause, there will be refreshments, games, and raffles. MISSIONAL MARKER
The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church.
This Week’s Missional Marker:
Heartfelt Worship (Psalm 138:1a; John 4:23 )
- We exalt and celebrate God for who he is, what he has done, what he is doing and what he will do.
- Worship reflects careful preparation to help give voice to many dimensions of response to God such as adoration, praise, contrition, lament, and commitment.
- People leave worship knowing something more about the heart of God and about their own hearts.
PRAYERS
Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:
- Mark I
- Junior J
- Marilyn K
- Jay & Avis K
- Wilma K,
- Don & Connie K
From CRCNA (Safe Church Ministry: Classis coordinators): With over 1,000 churches in the CRC, Safe Church relies on the help of local coordinators and safe church teams. Pray that God will raise up women and men in each classis to work with Safe Church to equip churches in abuse awareness, prevention, and response, creating safer communities for everyone.
From CRCNA (World Renew: Kenya): Women and girls often walk great distances to gather clean water each day, making it hard to focus on other work and studies. World Renew and a partner have worked diligently with community members to create a clean water pan in Karimboni, Kenya, that provides for 100 households. Thank God for this resource, and pray for the availability of clean water around the globe.
