– Bible Reading for this Week –
Please spend time reading through Psalms 79-91 in preparation for Sunday, July 15th.
– PRAYERS –
Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:
- Donna V
- Roland & Esther V
- Len & Terry V
- Don & Tena V
- Ken & Elaine W
- Joe & Barb Z
Pray for Streetcorners Ministry and the Cunninghams.
- Geralyn has been battling chronic fatigue, and over the past couple months has been experiencing acute “crashes” that have been severe and debilitating. Pray for God to allow medical answers to be revealed, and to encourage Geralyn’s heart and mind.
- Pray for the Cunningham children, who are facing extra challenges as they have been helping by taking on extra tasks at home.
- Pray for the Streetcorners Ministry work, that Mike and Geralyn will have wisdom to know what boundaries to create, and what to say yes and no to, and that His work in people’s hearts might multiply all the greater during this time.
- Pray for Mitchell, a participant in a discipleship program, which included working in the shop. Pray that Mitchell will find a good church with young people that will include him and encourage him in his faith.
Pray for Christians in Nicaragua. The following is from the founder of Connect Nicaragua, the ministry that Diane B visited last September.
During this time in Nicaragua we have lost our freedom to travel wherever we want or to be out after dark (it is always dark by 6:00). We cannot visit friends in other cities because of fighting or roadblocks. We cannot host the teams and discipleship participants we anticipated because we don’t want to harm anyone mentally or physically. With all of the unknowns and uncertainties I have never been more certain of the fact that God reigns, He is good and His love endures forever, I have never wanted each person I encounter to know Him as much as I do in this time and experience the gift of loving others no matter what their circumstance. We are not the judge of anyone, we have only been asked to hope and love with the absolutely certain and relevant and urgent love of Christ and He will do the rest.
Pray for Christians in Nigeria. The following is from Morning Star News, July 2nd.
An Assemblies of God Nigeria pastor, his wife and son were among at least 218 people killed in Muslim Fulani herdsmen attacks on predominantly Christian areas near Jos on June 23-25.
“As the umbrella organization for all Christians in Nigeria, we are at pains at the tragedy that has befallen our members,” Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President Samson Ayokunle said. “We mourn the death of over 200 Christians slaughtered on the Plateau at the weekend, and we passionately appeal to the [Muhammadu] Buhari-led administration to rise up and put a stop to further killings of innocent people, including defenseless women and children.”
– MISSIONAL MARKER –
The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is:
Global Perspective and Engagement (Acts 1:8)
- We raise the sights of our members beyond our congregation and community by developing a Biblical worldview and often pray for and reference global matters.
- We have identifiable pathways to support the cause of Christ globally.
- Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to participate in the global dimensions of our ministry.
