Please review Chapter 31 of The Story this week. Pastor Scott’s sermon next Sunday will be based on scriptures found in Chapter 31, “The End of Time.” If you do not have a copy of The Story, please let Pastor Scott know today.
Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:
- Ginny F
- Anne G
- Darryl & Gloria G
- Dan G
- Mike & Geralyn C: Josiah, Abigail, Bethany, Aleya, Emma, Nathanael, Alexander
Pray for Christians in New Delhi: High-caste Hindus who have been harassing a church in Nepal forced it to shut down last week, sources said. For two months Brahmins, the highest caste from which Hindu priests and teachers are drawn, in western Nepal’s Palpa District had disrupted worship of the Pakhluwa Eternal Life Church in Palpa each week and accused pastor Tufani Bhar of converting villagers, the pastor said. Church members had abandoned their building and resorted to meeting in homes, but the Brahmins issued threats to anyone found meeting anywhere, including in houses. “It is shocking that we are not allowed to meet in homes and pray,” the 53-year-old Pastor Bhar told Morning Star News. (Morning Star News, Nov. 16, 2018)
From CRC World Renew: We praise and thank God for his faithfulness and mercy in our lives. We praise him for guiding us and for allowing us the opportunity to serve brothers and sisters in Christ around the world. Thank God for the generous support World Renew receives to sustain its ministries. May God bless all individuals, churches, organizations, and government agencies supporting this work in various ways.
The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Transforming communities through active compassion, mercy and justice ministries (Micah 6:8)
- We are burdened for the hurting people in our community and beyond.
- We have identifiable pathways for compassion, mercy and justice ministries to take place.
- Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to see and address the hurts and the causes of hurt in our community and beyond.
Congregational Meeting Today: Please plan to stay after the worship service for the 2018 Congregational Meeting at 11:00. The adult Sunday School discussion time has been rescheduled for next week, so that you can participate in today’s meeting.
GEMS Annual Fundraiser: The GEMS girls are available to take your orders for Butter Braids and cookies this morning and next Sunday. Look for their table in the foyer after the worship service today! Orders need to be in by November 26th. Your purchases are greatly appreciated and will help the club to cover costs for various events.
Join us this Thursday at 9:30 a.m. for our Thanksgiving Service. We will be sitting at tables and sharing a bounty of grapes and bread for our communion.
Thanksgiving Offering: For our Thanksgiving offering this year, the deacons will be collecting non-perishable food items. There will also be a basket in the back of church if you wish to give a monetary donation for the Bellingham Food Bank.
Christmas Program Candy: The Sunday School Christmas program is approaching, and Diane would like to prepare treat bags for the children and young adults to receive. Would you be willing to donate some candy for them? There will be 40 bags assembled. Please place the donations in the box in the church office by December 1st.
Friendship Class Christmas Program: The Friendship Class invites you to their Christmas performance on Monday evening, December 10th at 7:00 p.m. The students are already practicing Christmas carols and their lines for the play – you won’t want to miss it! Please help Friendship’s collection for the food bank by bringing non-perishable items when you come.
Thank You from Hospitality Team: A sincere thank you to everyone who made the birthday dinner a fun-filled evening- from the setting up to the taking down and everything in between. It was accomplished by so many people, and was deeply appreciated.
