  PRAYERS

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their    spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Virginia F
  • Karen F
  • Anne G
  • Darryl & Gloria G
  • Dan G
  • Jerry & Faye H

Iran: Update on court hearing for Ismaeil Maghrebinejad (christianresponse.org)    On 1 November Middle East Concern (MEC) requested prayer for the court hearing of Christian convert Ismaeil Maghrebinejad on 2 November. Close contacts with Ismaeil report that the hearing went well, that the judge accepted the lawyer Ismaeil proposed for his defence and that Ismaeil was able to contest the accusations of apostasy. Ismaeil (65) was arrested in Shiraz on 25 January and charged with “propaganda against the state and insulting the sacred Iranian establishment.” At a later hearing on 22 October, the judge further accused Ismaeil of apostasy and increased bail demands from 10 million to 100 million tomans (US$9000). The next court hearing is expected to be in two months’ time.

Iranian Christians are thankful that the judge accepted the lawyer and gave Ismaeil the   opportunity to answer the accusations of apostasy and request prayer that:

  1. The lawyer will defend Ismaeil successfully
  2.  The judge will acknowledge that Ismaeil is not guilty of any crime and the charges against him will be dropped and that Ismaeil will be able to reclaim the money posted as bail
  3. God will strengthen and encourage Ismaeil and his family during this trial
  4. Iranian authorities will uphold the rights of religious minorities and that Christian  converts will not be persecuted

MISSIONAL MARKER

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move      forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Global Perspective and Engagement    (Acts 1:8)

  • We raise the sights of our members beyond our congregation and community by developing a Biblical worldview and often pray for and reference global matters.
  • We have identifiable pathways to support the cause of Christ globally.
  • Our people are equipped and growing in their ability to participate in the global dimensions of our ministry.

If you did not receive a copy of the budget at the recent budget discussion meeting, please take one from the foyer and come prepared to vote.

Stay for Lunch!  Following the meeting on the 17th, the Hospitality  Team will be providing lunch for everyone. There will be hot dogs with chili, sloppy joes, salads, and pumpkin pie. It is not necessary to give, but a basket will be available if you would like to donate towards the cost.

If you are able to help with  the cost, suggested donations are listed on the information board.

Thank you volunteers and donors! Terry wants to thank everyone who helped with the craft fair. She reports a profit of approximately $690. Your participation was much appreciated!
