EPIC Devotion #6

As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy…

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Mark 1:35 In EPIC, we will explore three different characteristics in people’s leadership styles: Spirituality, Chemistry, and Strategy. What is important to realize is that no one style is better. In fact, it is in their integration that we find the dynamic style that Jesus demonstrated. Today’s passage is one of the many times…

Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul,…

The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:39 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”…

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. Matthew 22:34-38 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything…

As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him. When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. Without delay he called them, and they left…

Free to sin, or freed from sin?

Should we pursue sin so that grace may abound?  Should we presume upon the grace of God?  Should we live a holy life?  These are questions that come to bear upon the doctrines of salvation and sanctification.  Listen to Dr. Reid as he talks about the Doctrine of Christian Liberty in this 3 minute clip: #Wisdom Wednesday with Dr. Scott Redd “What is the abuse of Christian liberty?” from Reformed Theological Seminary on Vimeo.

Why can’t Bible Believers participate in Same-sex wedding Ceremonies

With the Washington State Supreme Court hearing oral Arguments in the Barronelle Stutzman (Arlene’s Flowers) case, today seems like a good time to try and help people understand why Bible Believing Christians can’t in good conscience participate in Same-Sex wedding ceremonies.  I don’t presume to bring complete argument that is one size fits all, but what I do hope to present is an emotional argument akin to the kinds of arguments that the LGBTQ Lobby has used so many times…
