Intentional Evangelism – Preparing our Hearts to Worship

Intentional Evangelism – Preparing our Hearts to Worship

In an effort to help you prepare for the February 14st, 2016, Sunday morning corporate worship gathering and to aid you in your own reflections about church health and vitality, I wanted to pose a few questions and provide a few resources to prayerfully consider over the coming days. Our sermon is about intentional evangelism from Acts 8. The scriptures below will help you prepare for the service.

From the Scriptures

Read and prayerfully reflect upon these Scriptures asking God to shape your life and your church’s life to match the heart of God:

Take some time to read or listen to Acts 8. Pay attention to the various ways the church and her disciples engaged the world outside of the Jewish nation. Bible.is has a number of translations available.

Other Scriptures to consider: 1Corinthians 15:1-11, Isaiah 56:3-8

From the Creeds and Confessions

Read and reflect on the recovery of fallen humanity and the incarnation from the Belgic Confession Article 17 & 18.

Reflect on the Human fallenness and the covenant of redemption in the Westminster Confession Chapter 6 & Chapter 7.

From the songs, hymns and spiritual songs of the Church

I Love to tell the story (Grey Psalter Hymnal 530): Lyrics, Video

Bringing in the sheaves: Lyrics, Video

Days of Elijah: Lyrics, Video

For Thoughtful Reflection, Prayer, or further Study

Which non-Christian friend or family member do you desire to see come into Christ’s kingdom?

Commit to praying for this person every day until they receive the gift of Christ.

Ask God for opportunities to share the gospel with this person.
