Bulletin – Week of June 12, 2016

To find a new friend is to find a treasure. We welcome each person who has come here to worship. Be a friend to others and discover the wealth of friendship.

Message: Getting God’s Attention

Scripture: 1 Kings 18

Offering: General Fund

Prayer Requests:

This week we are asked to pray for Dan Grover, Jerry and Faye Hop, Jr. Johnson, Victor Johnson, Jay and Avis Kaemingk. Suggestions for prayers would be for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday life, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.

We continue to lift up Paulino Estrada and Georgi Lakey as Paulino recovers from cancer surgery.

Please keep the mission team in your prayers this week as they work together in Omak. Some will be rebuilding fences, some will be painting and some will be the support team, preparing meals for everyone, and keeping us all organized. Watch for pictures and updates on the church’s web site.

Lou and Ev Kooistra’s 17-month old granddaughter, Amaya (Misty & Calvin’s daughter), will have surgery in Portland this coming Monday morning (the 13th) to remove a small benign mass on her right lung. Because there are feeder veins attaching the mass to her aorta, the bottom portion of the lung will be removed along with the mass.

Announcements:

This morning we welcome Pastor Aaron Walters, who will be sharing God’s Word with us this morning. Pastor Aaron is with The Table, a Christian Reformed Church Plant here in Bellingham.

Pastor Scott and several of our elders will be participating in the mission trip to Omak this week. If you need assistance from an elder, please contact Mike Boer or Joe Pruitt.

Jenn Boer will be filling in at the church office this week in the afternoons as Terry is part of the mission team. Jenn plans to be in the church office for a few hours in the afternoon.

Next week Jenn Boer will be covering the office  on unscheduled hours.  The following week there will only be sporadic coverage in the office by Ellie Roberts. Terry will be back in the church office on July 5th.

Servants Next Sunday, June 19: Greeters: Karen Smith and Chris Pike; Snacks: Jenn Boer and Pat Bosman; Ushers: Dale and Deloris Perry; Prayer Room: Herm Laninga.

The Konings are having a garage sale July 22-23 and your good used items are wanted—also your help at the garage sale. Items may be brought to the church on Thursday, July 21. They will need help setting up the sale on Thursday and then doing clean up on Saturday.

Cascade Family Bible Camp will run from July 7 through 11 at Warm Beach Camp near Stanwood. Speakers include Pastor Jon Brown, Grant Vanderhoak and Geoff Van Dragt. This is a great way to invest in your family and faith. Registration forms are available in the foyer or online at www.cascadefamilybiblecamp.org. First-time registrants receive 50 percent off registration.

TRIIP CANCELED, PRAY FOR GRAHAM TOUR: The bus trip from Lynden to the Decision America Tour 2016 with Franklin Graham in Olympia on June 29 has been canceled. Instead, a prayer time will be held at Faith Reformed that day at 11 a.m. For more information about the tour and its challenge for Christians to live out their faith at home, in public and at the ballot box, visit decisionamericatour.com. For details about the prayer time, call the church.

The Wiser Lake Chapel is celebrating its 100-year anniversary by inviting everyone to a community picnic after their worship service on Aug. 7. The Chapel is collecting stories from those who were ever part of the congregation. To share your story or for more information about the anniversary activities, contact Emily Gibson at emilypgibson@gmail.com.

Wilma Kelln is now residing at the Grace Manor Adult Family Home, located at 3786 Britton Road, Bellingham. The phone number there is 360-305-5779. Wilma loves having company.

The council is considering hosting a political event this fall where we would invite the judicial candidates to come and speak about their views of law, being a judge, etc. If you are interested in helping to facilitate this possible ministry to our church and our county, please contact David Richards or the church office.
