Build My Life

As It Is In Heaven

Read through CHAPTER 19 of Believe this week as you ponder the following questions:

  1. What in this chapter spoke to me the most? Was there something I saw in a new light?
  2. What in this chapter draws me to live more fully for Christ?
  3. Is there something that I would want to share from my heart with someone who may not know Jesus as their Savior?

Each week we pray for members of our church family. Suggested prayers are for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday lives, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them. This week please pray for:

  • Darryl & Gloria G
  • Dan G
  • Jerry & Faye H
  • Glenn (Junior)
  • Jay & Avis K
  • Marilyn K

Christian Reformed Church Prayer Requests:

(Back to God Ministries International) Indonesia—Rev. Arliyanus has become the new interim director of our Indonesian ministry. Pray for wisdom for Rev. Arliyanus as he steps into this role, where his main task will be to continue the search for a long-term ministry leader in Indonesia.

(Calvin Theological Seminary) Graduates— About 120 students will be graduating this month, including about 50 receiving certificates in our Spanish-language ministry and counseling programs. Rejoice with our graduates, their families, and all who have supported them. Pray for these graduates as they transition to ministry positions, further studies, or other opportunities God may have in store for them.

(Worship Ministries) Freedom—As Canada and the U.S. mark or prepare for national holidays (Victoria Day and Memorial Day), we celebrate the freedom to worship freely. Pray for the Lord’s people in countries that do not allow that privilege. Whether we gather in secret or in public, may we worship in the bond of unity through the Holy Spirit, knowing that Christ is Victor and King!

The congregation of Hope in Christ Church has made the Spirit-filled decision to move forward and become a healthy missional church. This week’s Missional Marker is: Fruitful Organizational Structures (Exodus 18:13‐26, Acts 6:1-7)

  • We can articulate a compelling, Christ-honoring vision for our church.
  • We embrace evaluation as normal and natural and work through conflict constructively.
  • Our organizational structures are designed to be efficient at making decisions while at the same time building congregational ownership for those decisions.

Council Candidates: The following members are being presented by the council as candidates for Elder: Clair Abee, Brian Koning, Herm Laninga; and for Deacon: Ruth Stadt, Jennifer Boer, Philip Bergman.   Today we will draw lots and the Holy Spirit will select our next Elders and Deacons.  We give thanks to Joe Pruitt and Don Recker for their service as Elders, and to Lisa DeSalvo and Terry Vander Woude for their service as Deacons.

From Hospitality Team: We want to remind you that any non-labeled items in the refrigerator will be used by Hospitality. If you are keeping something in the refrigerator for a specific ministry or activity, please label it accordingly. Thank you!

Petition Available For Your Review: There is a petition in the foyer for Initiative 1004 concerning abortion services for minors. Please review it and sign if you are led.

1st Annual Camp Out to End Homelessness: Join this fundraiser for a night of car-and-tent camping. June 28, 5pm-June 29, 10am. Support Family Promise, a program of the Interfaith Coalition, as we put the brakes on family homelessness in our community! Dinner, breakfast and activities for the whole family will be provided. For tickets, registration, FUNdraising guidelines, and additional information visit our Family Promise website: https://familypromisewhatcom.org/

Romans Recitation: Jeremiah Ramsey will be giving a memorized dramatic recitation of the book of Romans at Spring Creek Bible Church on Kellogg Road on Sunday, June 2 at 6 p.m. Take in the entirety of this critical New Testament book in one hearing, just as the original recipients would have done. Be blessed this evening and bring your family and friends!
