18 Redeeming Time POHFW

Preparing our Hearts to Worship

In an effort to help you prepare for the May 19, 2019, Sunday morning corporate worship gathering and to aid you in your own reflections on What God wants us to Believe, Do, and Become. I wanted to pose a few questions and provide a few resources to prayerfully consider over the coming days. Our sermon is entitled, “Redeeming Time”. The main Scriptures for the day are the Ephesians 5:7-8, 15-21.

(Pick and choose from the many resources and options, which I have tried to make available for your devotional life.)

 Heidelberg Catechism Q1

What is your only comfort in life and death?

That I, with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Savior Jesus Christ; who with his precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; yea, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, wherefore by his Holy Spirit he also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto him.

Heidelberg Catechism Q91

 But what are good works?

Only those which are done from true faith, according to the law of God, and to his glory; and not such as are based on our own opinions or the precepts of men.

Our World Belongs to God Article 48

Our work is a calling from God.
We work for more than wages
and manage for more than profit
so that mutual respect
and the just use of goods and skills
may shape the workplace.
While we earn or profit,
we love our neighbors by providing
useful products and services.
In our global economy
we advocate meaningful work
and fair wages for all.
Out of the Lord’s generosity to us,
we give freely and gladly
of our money and time.
