- Introduction: Worship without Heart (Jn 4:24)
- Faulty Worship
- Malachi begins by bringing God’s accusation against the priests. (Mal 1:6)
- The 5th commandment to the priesthood (Ex 20:12)
- And this isn’t the first time it has happened like this in Israel (1Sam 2:29-30)
- To Honor is (Lk 14:10, 1Tim 5:3, Prov 3:9, 14:3, Jn 12:26)
- But we dishonor him when (Mt 15:6, Rom 1:21, Isa 3:5)
- The Priests respond (Mal 1:6, Dt 10:12-13, 1Sam 17:45)
- The Charge explained (Mal 1:7-8, Dt 15:21)
- God’s desire is that someone would shut the temple doors (Mal 1:10)
- Weary in worship (Mal 1:12-13, Mic 6:3-5)
- The Punishment
- Cursed (Mal 1:14, 2:2)
- Rebuke Children (Mal 2:3)
- God will dishonor the false priests (Mal 2:3)
- God will do to us what has been done to him (Mal 2:8-9)

- So is there any hope with such a broken priesthood? (Mal 1:11, 2:7, Rev 5:8)
- A Single, Pure offering (Heb 7:27, 9:14, 9:25-26)
- Application
- First – We ought to take to heart the rebuke offered to the OT priesthood for we are a holy nation, a royal priesthood, a people belonging to the Lord (1Pt 2:9)
- Second – We ought to reflect on the things we offer to the Lord
- Third – We ought to be enamored with Christ.
- Finally – We should pray for and be thankful that God gives us the HS so we can worship in spirit and truth.
