Recollections from Joshua

What are these 3 burials meant to impart to us?

          1. Joshua’s Burial (Josh 24:29-31)
            1. First, Joshua’s name and appellation
            2. Second, we learn that every leader must die, the question is how will they die.
            3. Third, we learn that Joshua is buried in his own inheritance. (v30)
            4. Fourth, we learn what kind of legacy a Godly Leader leaves: (v31-32)
              1. A Godly leader follows God ad leads others to do the same
              2. A Godly leader leaves a legacy of other leaders who continue to follow God and lead others to the same when he dies.
              3. A Godly leader completes the unfinished work of the past. (v32)
          2. Joseph’s Burial (Josh 24:32)
            1. The Historical Connection (Gen 50:25, Ex 13:19)
            2. Faith that God fulfills his promise is the great lesson here. (Heb 11:22)
          3. Eleazar’s Burial (Josh 24:33)
            1. Who was Eleazar and what did he do? (Josh 14:1, 19:51, 21:1, Num 4:16, 34:17)
          4. Each of these men were servants of the Lord.

So two questions remain for each of us:

          1. Are we servants of the Lord?
          2. Are we as rest with the promises of God?
            1. He promises to come for us (Jn 14:3)
            2. He promises to raise us up (Jn 6:40)
            3. He promises to give us rest (Mt 11:28)
            4. He promises build his church (Mt 16:18)
            5. He promises to love us and reveal himself to us (Jn 14:21)
            6. He promises to send the Spirit (Jn 16:7)
