1. Love is our invitation
2. What is Love?
   1. God is (1Jn 4:8, 1:5, John 4:24, 1Cor 1:9, Heb 12:29, Dt 4:24, 31, Ex 34:6, Dt 23:5)
   2. How God loves (1Jn 4:9-10)
      1. Sent his son
         1. To his enemies (1Jn 2:16, 3:13, 5:19)
         2. To redeem the dead (Rom 3:23)
         3. To be a propitiation (1Jn 4:10)
3. Implications: We should love one another (1Jn 4:11)
   1. Positive Reasons for loving (1Jn 4:7)
      1. Love originates and comes from God (also 1Jn 4:19)
      2. Love is proof of our divine paternity
      3. Love proves we know God
   2. Negative reasons for loving (1Jn 4:8)
      1. Failure to love is proof of not knowing God
4. Love Proves (1Jn 4:12)
   1. God abides in us
      1. Spirit present in us (1Jn 4:13)
      2. Confess the good confession (1Jn 4:14-15)
      3. Also proves we abide in God (1Jn 4:16)
   2. His love is perfected in us
      1. Brings assurance of faith (1Jn 4:17)
      2. Brings confidence of our transformation ultimately (1Jn 4:17)
      3. No fear of ultimate (1Jn 4:18)
   3. Cannot hate a brother (1Jn 4:20)
5. Love is Commanded (1Jn 4:21)
