Popular ideas about Hell

But what does the bible say about all of this?

          1. Why was hell created?
            1. Punish Satan and his angels for rebellion and his accusations against God’s people (Mt 25:41, Rev 20:10, Zech 3:1, Job 1-2, Eph 4:27, 6:11)
          2. How is this punishment described?
            1. Lake of fire and sulfur (Rev 20:10)
            2. Unending Torment
            3. Eternal fire never goes out
            4. Weeping and gnashing of teeth (Mt 13:42, Acts 7:54, Ps 37:12)
            5. Discomfort and conscious awareness of suffering (Lk 16:23)
          3. What does hell have to do with sinners?
            1. Need not be a full place – Christ has come to rescue and save but
            2. There is a judgment for works done in the flesh (Rev 20:12-15)
            3. Those not ‘in Christ’ are considered with Satan
            4. Eternal abode of sinners
            5. Hell is Justice enacted

Peace is possible for those en route to Hell

          1. Confess your sins (1Jn 1:9)
          2. Turn from sin to ways of God (Ezek 18:30, Lk 13:3, Act 3:19, 8:22, Jn 8:12)
          3. Christ is come (Lk 19:10)
          4. Christ crushes the serpent (Gen 3, Mt 4, Col 2:15)
          5. Christ destroys death
          6. Christ destroys the world/sin

Application

          1. Choose life not death, choose heaven not hell, choose mercy not judgment
          2. Share the full gospel message of sin, death, judgment, heaven and hell, and the victory of Christ
