Bulletin – Week of February 21, 2016

No one should ever feel excluded from our Christian fellowship. Greet other worshipers warmly and happily. Welcome in the name of our Lord!

Message: Compassion, Mercy and Justice Are Rooted in God

 Scripture: Exodus 34:4-7

Offering: Outreach Fund

Prayer Requests:

This week we are asked to pray for Mike and Geralyn Cunningham and their children, Sissy Davis, Chuck Dean, Dave and Lisa DeSalvo, Denise Doezema. Suggestions for prayers would be for their spiritual growth, opportunities to see Christ in their everyday life, and anything else that God puts on your mind for them.

Announcements:

Join the council this morning during the Sunday school hour as we spend the time together in prayer.

Our service next Sunday will be “Book of Acts, Global Perspective and Engagement,” based on Mt. 28:18-20. Everyone is encouraged to prepare their heart for the message. The bulletin, which includes the songs of praise, is usually posted online by Friday afternoons and the monthly sermon topics with scripture are listed each month in the Heartbeat.

Hospitality is missing two containers that are used to store cookies in; we have the lids but not the bases. Please check your cupboards to see if you have one or more of them.

Articles for the March issue of The Heartbeat, our monthly newsletter, are due in the church office this Thursday. If you have a change or addition for the church calendar, please let the office know.

Kings Men of Song will be performing in our church on March 20th. Doors will open at 6:30 and refreshments served, with their performance to begin around 7pm. A free-will offering will be taken for the Lighthouse Mission.

If you are interested in joining your church family in the mission trip to the Okanagan area the week of June 12th, please fill out the form on the small table in the foyer and place it in the box. Jerry and Faye Hop and Len and Terry Vander Woude are working with World Renew to coordinate our trip.

If you would like to provide a meal for Roberta and Doug Maier please let Alice Brakke know and she can send you the link for the meal train that has been set up for them. Roberta underwent back surgery on Friday.

Mid-America Reformed Seminary invites you to join a live-stream event as Rev. Bassam Madany, founder of Middle East Resources, teaches this year’s Spring Evening Class entitled “The Christian Response to the Global Challenge of Islam.” Classes will be held on four successive Thursdays at 7:30 pm starting April 7, 2016. For further information and live-stream registration details, go to http://midamerica.edu/news/46/2016-spring-evening-class or call Mid-America Reformed Seminary at 219-864-2400.

The GEMS are collecting money for the Esther School and would love for you to take one of their decorated jars to put your loose change in. The jars need to be returned to Darlys Recker.

Each week the Community Bulletin is printed and placed on the information stand in the foyer. Take a moment to check out the activities happening in our area and also notices from World Renew and the Christian Reformed denomination.
