Scripture is the record of God speaking

1. 1. 1. 1. 1. From the opening pages of Genesis the thing that jumps off the page is that God speaks (Gen 1, 3:8, 4:6-7, 6:13, etc)
            2. It’s not a fairy tale but a faithful record (Heb 1:1)
            3. Hebrews is a Hermenuetics textbook on understanding Jesus as the fulfillment of the OT
               1. He is a better communicator than the angelic messengers (ch 2)
               2. He is a better prophet than Moses (ch 3)
               3. He is a better rest than the weekly sabbath (ch 4)
               4. He is a better priest-king than Melchizedek (ch 5-7)
               5. He is a better sacrifice than the OT sacrifices (ch 9)
            4. God has spoken to them and he has spoken to us. (Heb 1:1-2)

So how much better is it to be on this side of the AD/BC calendar date line?

1. 1. 1. 1. 1. Infinitely better to listen to the Son
               1. Long ago – Last days
               2. The words of one’s last days matter
            2. Don’t downplay the Son’s importance, he is:
               1. Heir of all things (Heb 1:2, Ps 2:8)
               2. Creator of the World (Heb 1:2)
               3. He is the alpha and omega

Applying this to our lives – Learn to savor the Word

1. 1. 1. 1. 1. If this is our desire and our practice, then we will never lack for the words of God to be speaking to our heart and our mind and we will know his voice as the sheep knows the voice of the shepherd.
