  2. The Hope of all Coming to God (Isa 2:1-5, cp Mic 4:1-3)
    1. When Christ returns: The Worship of God will govern all the earth
    2. And people learn from and walk with God (Isa 2:3-4)
      1. Jesus is the Temple of God today (Jn 2:19-21)
      2. Jesus’ teaching is the Beatitudes (Mt 5:3-9)
    3. An Exhortation to walk with God in light of our future (Isa 2:5)
  3. The current brokenness of the covenant people (Isa 2:5-4:1)
    1. The Sin of the People Described
      1. In league with foreigners, esp divination (Isa 2:6)
      2. Too much wealth amassed (Isa 2:7, 3:16)
      3. Too great a military complex (Isa 2:7, Dt 17:16, 20:1)
      4. Idolatry abounds (Isa 2:8, 2Ki 15:35, 16:3)
      5. Pride (Isa 2:11)
      6. Parallels Today?
    2. The Punishment predicted (Isa 2:10, 2:19-22, Rev 6:15-17)
      1. Terror of the Lord and his majesty will be revealed (Isa 2:10, 19-22)
      2. Destruction on the land (Isa 2:12-16)
        1. No longer will he protect the land (Isa 3:1-3, 3:25-26)
        2. Ruled by youths (Isa 3:4)
        3. Oppression within the people from own (Isa 3:5)
        4. Insolence among people (Isa 3:5)
        5. Desperation for leadership (Isa 3:6-7, 12)
        6. Exposing of women and sickness (Isa 3:17)
        7. Removal of Riches (Isa 3:18-24)
      3. Humbling and humility (Isa 2:17)
      4. So what can you do?
    3. But there is hope for the righteous (Isa 3:10)
  4. The Future Glory (Isa 4:2-6)
    1. The Branch will be revealed. (Jer 23:5, 33:15, Zech 6:12)
    2. The covenant people who again be holy (Isa 4:3)
    3. Even sinners will be cleansed (Isa 4:4-5)
    4. God will be their shelter (Isa 4:6)
  5. What’s the point?
    1. God loves his people too much to let them continue in defiance and he will destroy a nation in order to redeem a people.
