2 Reasons we should act

1. 1. 1. 1. 1. We have confidence (Heb 10:19-20)
               1. What is confidence?
               2. We are in the doorway (Heb 9:8-9, Mt 27:51)
            2. We have a Great priest (Heb 10:21)

3 Responses we should have:

1. 1. 1. 1. 1. Draw Near (Heb 10:22)
               1. Enter into the Room
               2. What are we to bring into this meeting with God?
                  1. A true heart is
                  2. In full assurance of faith
                  3. How does this heart and assurance come to us?
            2. Cling to our Confession (Heb 10:23)
               1. Hold fast
               2. What is the confession of our hope? (Heb 3:1)
               3. How to hold fast?
                  1. Guard your freedom (Gal 5:1)
                  2. Be strong, resist that which opposes Christ (1Cor 16:13)
                  3. Wear the armor of God (Eph 6:13)
                  4. Be unwavering in commitment to Jesus way (2Th 2:15)
               4. We hold fast because God is faithful. (Heb 6:17-20)
            3. Stir Up one Another (Heb 10:24)
               1. We are to stir up, stir the pot if you will (Act 15:39)
               2. What are acts of Love?
                  1. keeping the commandments (Jn 15:10, Rom 13:10),
                  2. sacrificing for others (Jn 15:13),
                  3. abhor evil (Rom 12:9),
                  4. patient-kind-not envious or boasting or arrogant (1Cor 13:4-7),
                  5. truthful (Eph 4:15)
               3. What are good works?
                  1. healing (Jn 10:33),
                  2. helping cases of urgent need (Tit 3:14),
                  3. not being controlled by fleshly passions (1Pt 2:11-12)
                  4. Notice what else is thrown into this outward facing response
               4. Our corporate need for others (Heb 10:25)

How can we do all of this – draw near, hold fast confession and stir up one another?

1. 1. 1. 1. 1. Pray for each other in this.
            2. Set the example
            3. Invite others to do it with you.
            4. Confront when we see the opposite of this happening.
            5. Most important to remember this isn’t our work (Heb 3:1)
