  1. Last Words
    1. If you knew that you were going to die, What would you do and/or say during these final moments?
    2. Jesus prays! (Jn 17:1)
  2. Prayer and Worship as one’s final act in life
    1. This is abnormal even in Scripture (Heb 11:21, 2Ki 20:1-5)
    2. Jesus’ act stands out.
      1. What it means:
      2. Prayer is important and should be prioritized
        1. Jesus prays throughout the scriptures
          1. The Gospel of John doesn’t highlight this aspect of Jesus’ life much (Jn 6:11, 11:41-42, 17:1ff).
          2. The other gospels round out this (Mt 6, 14:23, 26:26-43, Mk 9:29, Lk 3:21-22, 5:16, 6:12, 9:18, 10:21, 11:2, 22:17, 22:32)
        2. A shameless plug
      3. Prayer is Edifying
        1. What is Edification
        2. Why would I say that prayer is edifying? (Eph 4:12)
    3. One Final note (Jn 16:33, Mk 11:24)
  3. So how can we develop the same victorious certainty in our prayer life that Jesus had?
    1. Why was Jesus certain?
      1. He knew the character of his Father
      2. He knew that he was holy and therefore acceptable to God
    2. Grow in your understanding and experience of the character of God
      1. Through Scripture study you can see the character of God
      2. Through Theological books like
      3. By keeping a Journal
    3. Understand your status as a child of God (Rom 8:15)
    4. Understand your status as holy in Christ (Eph 1:4)
