2 Commands for Husbands (Col 3:19)

- Command 1: Love your wives
- Continuously, intentionally, actively – love them.
- We are to love the Brotherhood (1Pt 2:17)
- We are to love one another (1Pt 1:22)
- Jesus commands us to Love our enemies 3x (Mt 5:44, Lk 6:27, 6:35)
- And 3x a husband is commanded to love his wife (Eph 5:25, 5:33, Col 3:19)
- What does it mean to love someone?
- Do you recall Jacob’s love for Rachel? (Gen 29:18)
- Love doesn’t harm (Rom 13:10)
- Love is (1 Cor 13:4-8)
- Because love seeks her best – it will be expressed in devotion to her (Mt 6:24)
- Loving also means speaking the truth to her. (Mk 10:21)
- Husbands do you understand the gravity of the command you are being given? (Eph 5:25-27)
- Love doesn’t demand anything
- Only in Walking with Christ can this happen
- Continuously, intentionally, actively – love them.
- Command 2: Do not be harsh with them
- Command 1: Love your wives

- Voluntary obedience (Lk 2:51)
- Recognition of God given position of authority (Rom 13:1)
- Honor and reverence (1Cor 16:16)
